How to get your business on Google.

By Apex Digital StudiosUpdated June 20265 min read

To get your business on Google, create a free Google Business Profile at business.google.com. It puts you on Google Maps and in local "near me" results. Then add a website and consistent listings on Bing, Apple, and major directories to strengthen it.

Showing up on Google isn't one thing — it's a few pieces working together. Here's the order that actually works.

Step 1: Create a Google Business Profile (free)

This is the big one. Go to business.google.com, add your business name, category, service area, hours, and photos, then verify. This is what gets you on Google Maps and in the local pack (the map with three businesses at the top). It's free and it's the single most important step.

Step 2: Have a real website

A website makes you look legitimate and lets you rank for searches your profile can't. It's also where your profile sends people to learn more or contact you. If you don't have one yet, see do I need a website and what one costs.

Step 3: Get listed everywhere (consistently)

Add your business to Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yelp, Facebook, and the BBB. Use the exact same business name and info on each one. Bing matters more than people think — it powers ChatGPT and Copilot.

Step 4: Collect reviews

Reviews are a major ranking and trust signal. Ask happy customers to leave a Google review and respond to each one. Aim for your first ten.
